Took my Olympus Stylus 1030S waterproof camera out today and took another panoramic shot from the water. Light Kona winds made for clear skies and pretty clean conditions. As always, feel free to download the full sized image by clicking on the thumbnail above. Aloha!
The weather today was phenomenal for the east side of Oahu. Our trade winds, which normally makes the ocean choppy, was non-existent and replaced by Kona winds making for smooth conditions. We paddled out on our longboards to the Twin Islands (also known as the Mokulua’s) for a fun surf session about a mile off the Lanikai shoreline. If you haven’t visited the area just follow the beach in Kailua and keep heading east where you’ll find pristine beaches nestled amongst the fabulous Lanikai homes. I also managed to take a panoramic of Lanikai halfway to the ‘Mokes’.

The 2009 Eddie Aikau Big Wave Invitational ran for only the 8th time in its twenty four year history. Waves of 20-25+ feet (Hawaiian scale) rumbled through world famous Waimea Bay on Oahu’s north shore. With perfect offshore winds and clean conditions, the 29 of the best big wave surfers in the world put on a show for the 30,000 fans that lined the Bay. Enjoy the photos below and stay tuned for video from the event.
Hey gang, sorry I’ve been so bad at adding photos…yesterday was actually the 1st day I’ve used my camera since my trip to San Francisco. Anyway, I only had a few minutes to take some photos…most of these aren’t that great but I thought I’d share anyway.
I drove up to the main look out at Round Top on Christmas night. I had hope to take some cool sunset photos of Honolulu but left the house too late and by the time I made it up to Round Top it was dark. I still managed to take a few Honolulu city lights photos. Enjoy!
I took a short hike up one of the trails on Tantalus a couple weeks ago and managed to snap a few shots next to a communications tower. We didn’t really have time to explore some of the other extensive trails that offer much better vantage points of Honolulu. I’ll do that one of these days and post more photos from Tantalus when I get the chance. Enjoy!
