A few photos from Makapuu Beach on Oahu’s eastern shore. The winds here are normally on-shore and stormy due to our predominant trade winds but we’ve experienced light and variable winds the past few days. Makapuu was clean and almost glassy.
Hazy skies from today’s Kona winds made for a wicked sunset on Oahu’s south shore. Waves were backlit with a vibrant red. Photos taken with a GoPro Hero2.
A few bizarre but interesting waves from Makena Beach. A number of waves had weird lips as they broke in the shore break.

These shore break photos are from Makena Beach, Maui. The water at Makena is absolutely crystal clear with a beautiful sand beach and in my opinion, is the best beach in the world. Be careful of the shore break when it gets bigger as the wave packs a punch and breaks top to bottom on the shallow sand. Photos taken with a GoPro Hero2.
