More photos from the shore break at Pipeline. Waves were smaller than yesterday but still a few chances to shoot small tubes. I tried shooting earlier in the morning for that dramatic effect.

The North Shore of Oahu saw a tiny bump today which is typically like a lake this time of year. Pipeline was 2 ft and surging in the shore break.

A few photos from Makapuu Beach on Oahu’s eastern shore. The winds here are normally on-shore and stormy due to our predominant trade winds but we’ve experienced light and variable winds the past few days. Makapuu was clean and almost glassy.

Ke Iki beach is one of the hidden secrets on Oahu’s north shore. A huge white sand beach sits between multi-million dollar beachfront homes and some of the clearest water you’ll find in Hawaii. When waves break, it almost looks fake…hard to explain but hopefully the pictures give you an idea. In the winter months, this beach turns into one of the heaviest and most deadly beaches in Hawaii. The shore break here is often over 8 ft Hawaiian (16 ft faces+). For those unaware of the ocean’s unpredictable power, please use extreme caution before entering the ocean.

Foamy wave at Chun’s Reef

For some reason, Hawaii green sea turtles love hanging out at the popular surf spot Laniakea on Oahu’s north shore. You can see them swimming up and down the beach, munching on seaweed in the rolling shore break. Some of these guys are pretty massive, others juveniles. These docile creatures are beautiful and great to have but they cause major traffic along Kamehameha Hwy as tourists flock in droves to see them.

First time shooting at Lani’s…missed a ton of shots but I did catch one with a cool rainbow in the background. There were tons of turtles swimming around though the water was kinda murky.

A Hawaii-Photos.net fan in Germany sent us a photo of his iPad using  a shot of the Golden Gate Bridge I took several years ago as his wallpaper. Thanks Tobi!
